Consulting & Mentorship

Support for coaches and programs looking to grow.

Jeff Julian works with coaches and programs ready for experienced, collaborative support. The work starts with understanding your situation.

Consulting: A fresh perspective on your program

Every program has its own people, goals, and resources. Consulting begins with understanding how yours works and where experienced support could make a difference.

Through observation, questions, and collaborative conversations, we explore the priorities that matter to you.

An outside perspective can help you notice patterns, question assumptions, and see familiar challenges differently.

Areas of focus may include:

  • Program structure, staffing, and use of available resources.
  • Season planning and athlete development.
  • Coach education and staff collaboration.
  • Communication with athletes, families, and leadership.
  • Coaching philosophy and how it translates into daily practice.
  • Navigating a specific challenge or period of change.
  • Board and coaching staff relationships: clarifying roles, strengthening communication, and building shared expectations.

Together, we identify what is working, where there are opportunities, and a manageable plan for moving forward.

Mentorship: Ongoing support for your development as a coach

A consistent sounding board can give you space to reflect, ask questions, and work through decisions with greater clarity.

Mentorship is an ongoing relationship shaped around your development. You bring the situations, ideas, and questions from your coaching; Jeff brings experience, perspective, and a willingness to work through them with you.

A starting mentorship format

  • An initial conversation to understand your goals and circumstances.
  • Two 45-minute online conversations per month.
  • Agreed priorities and practical steps to work on between conversations.
  • Brief email follow-up to clarify topics discussed.
  • Time to review what you tried, what you learned, and what comes next.

Topics may include athlete development, planning, communication, leadership, coaching philosophy, and managing the demands of the profession. Mentorship can also help coaches navigate Board relationships, communicate priorities, and prepare for difficult conversations.

The goal is to help you develop your own judgment, confidence, and approach; not to hand you a formula.
